THE SHINING RETURNS TO THEATERS

There's a lot to love about October. Aside from everything about the month being wonderful, we horror fans get fantastic things like stores full of scary goods, TV channels dedicating entire blocks of programming to horror movies and shows, and, one of my favorite things, great old-school horror films making a return to the big screen for a limited time.

One of those movies this month is The Shining. Fathom Events, Turner Classic Movies, and Warner Bros. Entertainment are having a special two-day event where you can catch Stanley Kubrick's classic horror movie at (hopefully) a theater near you! Make sure to check out the links below to take advantage of this opportunity!

From the press release:

"Heeeere's Johnny!" ... back on the big screen just in time for Halloween. Fathom Events, Turner Classic Movies and Warner Bros. Entertainment invite you to relive Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece of modern horror, "The Shining" (1980), when it returns to cinemas nationwide for a special two-day event this October as part of Fathom Events and Turner Classic Movies' TCM Big Screen Classics series. "TCM Big Screen Classics: The Shining" will screen Sunday, October 23 and Wednesday, October 26 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time (both days) and will include exclusive commentary by Turner Classic Movies host Ben Mankiewicz.

From a script he co-adapted from the Stephen King novel, director Stanley Kubrick melds vivid performances, menacing settings, dreamlike tracking shots and shock after shock into a macabre milestone. In a signature role, Jack Nicholson plays Jack Torrance, who's come to the elegant, isolated Overlook Hotel, as the off-season caretaker with his wife (Shelley Duvall) and son (Danny Lloyd). Torrance has never been there before - or has he? The answer lies in a ghostly time warp of madness and murder.

Tickets to "TCM Big Screen Classics: The Shining" can be purchased online from www.FathomEvents.com (theaters and participants are subject to change).

The Shining will be playing in more than 650 movie theaters nationwide on the following dates and times:

Sunday, October 23, 2016, 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time
Wednesday, October 26, 2016, 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. local time

To get tickets, head on over to Fathom Events or at participating box offices. For a complete list of partipating theaters, click on the "Theater Locations" tab at FathomEvents.com.

He's the puppet master. You don't see him, but he pulls the strings that gets things done. He's the silent partner. He's black ops. If you notice his presence, it's the last thing you'll notice — because now you're dead. He's the shadow you thought you saw in that dark alleyway. You can have a conversation with him, and when you turn around to offer him a cup of coffee, he's already gone.
