The Town of Light will bring a dark past to PS4 and Xbox One

The Town of Light, a first-person psychological horror that first made its rounds on Steam in February of 2016, is coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. This news comes after the studio, LKA.it, signed a worldwide publishing agreement with Wired Productions, an independent games publisher. Grab your passports and clean underwear, because we're going back to Volterra Psychiatric Asylum in Tuscany, Italy.

In The Town of Light, players explore the aforementioned asylum as Renée, a 16-year-old girl who spent time at this very same facility in her youth due to mental illness. Now she wanders the halls of Volterr trying to find answers in the dark times of her past, and the player will go through this experience with her, solving puzzles and blurring the line between storytelling and reality. Much of the game's narrative is based on “extensive research and inspired by real facts”, making the psychological horror within all the more disturbing. Of course, if you've already played the game, what is going to bring you back?

According to Wired Productions, bringing the game to consoles in 2017 is much more than a mere re-master of existing content. We can expect:

"An enhanced edition of the original, this new release of The Town of Light will offer new puzzles, additional story elements, reworked voiceover dialogue, more interactive elements and a huge graphical and UI overhaul that aims to deliver a more polished and immersive experience."

Improvements will also be made on PC, though it's not clear whether these will be quite to the extent of the console versions.

The Town of Light will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One digitally and physically in Q2 2017, along with an enhanced version on PC. I'll be aiming to book myself in for a few sessions in Volterra for Horror DNA, but in the meantime, you can keep up with updates on the studio's website, Facebook and Twitter
