Dark Horse Comics has announced Tommy Gun Wizards, a new genre-bending series set to kick off in August. Artist Christian Ward jumps into the writer’s seat for this series, joined by illustrator Sami Kivela. Ward is also handling colors for Tommy Gun Wizards in collaboration with Dee Cunniffe. The series takes place in an alternate 1930s Chicago where the contraband of choice is magic, not booze.

Eliot Ness and his team of Untouchables work overtime taking on dangerous criminals that hide in the seedy underbelly of 1930s Chicago. Except in this world, Al Capone isn’t dealing in alcohol, but in magic. With Lick, a drug that grants magical powers to anyone who ingests it, mobsters become wizards, ordinary men become monsters, and darker secrets than Ness can imagine lie at the heart of it all in Tommy Gun Wizards.

I'm into this series based on the creative team alone.  This sounds like a pretty fun premise too.  Tommy Gun Wizards will feature backup stories written and drawn by Ward. The first issue, due out on August 28th, 2019, will have a variant cover by Declan Shalvey.
