We've all heard the phrase “War is Hell.” That gets taken rather literally in Hell in Stalingrad, a new graphic novel from Mad Robot Comics and Madius Comics, currently on Kickstarter. Written by Matt Hardy and Rob Jones, illustrated by Russell MacEwan, and inked by Will McLaughlan, the 80-page black-and-white comic is told in the vein of classic war stories, albeit with a horrific twist.

Set in the midst of the Battle of Stalingrad - with the Soviet Kessel slowly engulfing the German forces. We follow the story of a German soldier, Ernst, and Vassily, his Russian counterpart as they must set aside vast ideological differences in a bid to thwart an otherworldly threat.

Can these two men from such radically different backgrounds, caught up in one of the bloodiest battles of the Second World War prevent a demonic force from crossing over into our world and plunging the entire world into the fires of Hell?

The Kickstarter campaign has already surpassed its funding goal. Rewards include digital and physical copies of the comic itself, prints, art books, and more. It runs through July 18th, 2020.
