KATIE BONHAM KICKS OFF WOMEN IN HORROR MONTH WITH KEEPSAKE

I've said it before and I'll say it again: we don't just confine Women in Horror Month to February at Horror DNA, we have a strong contingent of kick-ass female writers on staff who represent the fairer sex and keep us blokes in line. It's kind of humbling that not only do we have a confident female outlook on the genre, we can also include film makers and actors among our ranks. One of our newer recruits, Katie Bonham, falls into the former category having made three short films to date.

Honing her craft with each shoot, Katie's second film The Porcelain Ground was a runner up in the 666: Shortcuts to Hell 2 competition we featured a few months ago. Not content with resting on her laurels, her next short The Paper Round was successfully funded by Kickstarter and will receive its world premiere at Frightfest Glasgow at the end of this month. But Katie's not stopping there; with two highly regarded shorts under her belt she's pressing on and aiming to fund her fourth film Keepsake.

Clearly her previous success has not gone unnoticed, as Keepsake has attracted genre talent in the form of Nicholas Vince, who horror fans will know for his role as Chatterer in Clive Barker's Hellraiser and its sequels. Also attached to the project is Jennie Lathan (Gangsters, Guns & Zombies). The official synopsis is below:

A woman claims that a poltergeist haunting her house is the spirit of her dead husband and allows him to take reign of the household. Is this violent poltergeist her beloved or something more sinister?

Clearly Katie is a lady who knows what she's doing and where she's going. If you want to check out the campaign for Keepsake you can do so at the following link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1397395391/keepsake If you're donating to the fund you're not only supporting Women in Horror, you're making an investment in a bright young horror director of the future. Go do it.

Update: On 17th February 2015 Katie will be a guest on the Horror Happens Radio Show's celebration of Women in Horror Month at 4pm EST (9pm UK Time). Tune in to find out more!
